Mental health challenges can feel incredibly isolating—like no one could possibly understand what you're thinking or feeling. Group therapy provides a chance to realize you're not alone, while receiving expert care in community with others.
At The Mending Place, Dr. Leann V. Smith offers virtual group therapy for those navigating anxiety, stress, identity shifts, or emotional fatigue. These are closed-cohort experiences—meaning the same members journey together each week—and are offered during specific seasons based on client demand. If you’re seeking connection, insight, and healing through shared experience, we’d love to walk alongside you.

Group therapy is a powerful way to connect with others who are navigating similar experiences. Rather than meeting one-on-one, you join a small, confidential group guided by a trained therapist, where healing and growth happen through conversation, skill-building, and mutual support.
At The Mending Place, our groups focus on shared concerns—such as anxiety, ADHD, identity exploration, depression, trauma, or life transitions—and are always designed to feel safe, affirming, and culturally conscious. Whether you're a teen, adult, or part of a specific affinity group, the experience is always rooted in belonging.
Each cohort meets virtually once a week for 75–90 minutes. Groups typically include 5 to 8 members and are intentionally closed, meaning no new participants join after the group begins. This format fosters trust, consistency, and deeper connection.
Every session is facilitated by Dr. Leann or a trusted clinician from the team. Together, the group engages in guided discussions, shares personal insights (at their own pace), and practices research-supported strategies. You’ll have space to be heard, to listen, and to build tools for emotional resilience—all within a structure designed for safety and growth.
You’ll never be pressured to share beyond your comfort—but many participants find relief in being witnessed and uplifted by others who truly understand.
Healing in community is powerful. Group therapy offers more than emotional support—it offers perspective, practical strategies, and the deep reassurance that you are not alone.
Benefits of group therapy may include:
Increased self-esteem and clarity
A renewed sense of belonging and hope
Practical tools for managing stress, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm
Stronger communication and relationship skills
Opportunities to reflect on your patterns in real time
Support in navigating life transitions with others who relate
Whether you're exploring a new chapter or seeking support for something long-standing, group therapy can help you rediscover what's possible—together.
